Notes and Updates from SAP
US Payroll customers are actively working on the new EEO report, and SAP has released a number of notes for this. See the master note 2480243 for all the latest information.
Every customer with payroll in Brazil has been challenged the past few years to comply with eSocial reporting, and SAP has released a lot of new functionality to support it. Now, they are releasing some notes that improve the performance of that process - see 2838736 and 2840299.
Related to year-end changes, if you have employees in Puerto Rico please take a look at 2837192 for the latest on the PR version of the W-2 and 1099-R forms.
The Q3 changes for US Tax Reporter State Unemployment Reporting is released via note 2835543.
There have been a lot of changes in the BSI integration for US Payroll the last few years, and note 2834928 details which objects SAP is now making obsolete. Take a look, and if you use any of them then plan on changes.
For EC Payroll customers, SAP recently released a couple important notes. First, note 2804149 details some new guardrails, essentially preventing the creation of any PD objects in an ECP system. And note 2822609 details some changes to point-to-point replication everyone should review and consider.
Around the Web
My visit to SuccessConnect last week spurred a lot of thoughts and questions on the SAP Payroll roadmap. All of my customers have wondered and asked my opinions about the roadmap and what they should do. I blogged my thoughts on the current version of SAP's Payroll roadmap and hope you find it useful.
The SAP HCM Insights podcast team - me, Brandon Toombs and Becky Murray - recorded a wrap-up of the SuccessConnect conference too. This is one of the few times we've recorded a podcast with everyone in the same room together, and it ws fun! We hope you enjoy it!
Also at SuccessConnect I spoke with Sapna Raj from Accenture Software for HCM about one of my favorite tools they provide – Clone & Test. This product allows you to copy and anonymize employee data from one system instance to another – whether that is in SuccessFactors or on-premise SAP HCM. It saves a lot of time in setting up new instances or in copying data from production to test/development for trouble-shooting purposes.
SAP has a new FlexPay option for EC Payroll. FlexPay enables employees to get an immediate advance on time worked, which is then deducted from the next payroll. Integrated with EC and ECP, it’s a good option if your company would like to give employees the flexibility to get an advance on their payroll. The program is in its Beta phase – and you can sign up to participate if you want. Also watch Imran Sajid discuss this with FlexPay co-founder Annika Schneider.
The US Department of Labor is raising the salary threshold to $684 a week or $35,568 a year (up from $455 a week or $23,660 a year), in addition to some other changes. Check out the details here and plan accordingly.
Repeating from the previous newsletter because it's that time of year: Year-end preparations for the US are getting started. SAP's traditional year-end blog is up and going, and I encourage every US payroll customer to follow it and participate. As usual, the year-end support packs for the US come out in October; rest of the world is December (fun times for global customers!). ASUG will have some webinars in early October, as usual. I always get this question: Do I have to install the year-end HR Support Pack to be supported for payroll next year? And my answer is: Yes. Of course you might be fine if you don't, and you might be able to apply individual notes. But don't risk your payroll processing and payroll compliance on the possibility that you 'might' be OK.
And repeating for our Canadian payroll friends - the year-end master note is 2832511 and needs to be reviewed often for the next few months. The year-end updates are delivered via support packages H8, E4 or 72 depending on which enhancement pack you are on. Looks like they should be released around 10 October. See the note for all the details.
And finally, I discovered a bug in the email sign-up process for this newsletter. If you tried earlier to sign up and got an error - try again!
